DAY 1:
On our first day in Kauai, we hopped on a short 35-minute flight from Maui, eager to begin our island adventure. As soon as we landed at the airport, we wasted no time and headed straight to the Avis car rental counter to pick up our vehicle. Renting a car is a popular and convenient option for exploring Kauai, as it provides the freedom to navigate the island at our own pace and discover hidden gems off the beaten path.
However, for those looking for an alternative and cheaper way to get around, the Kauai bus system offers reliable and affordable transportation options. The Kauai Bus operates various routes throughout the island, including popular tourist destinations. It's a great option for budget-conscious travelers or those who prefer not to drive. The bus service operates on a fixed schedule, so it's advisable to plan ahead and check the route timings to ensure a smooth journey.
As we made our way towards our hotel, the Kauai Inn, we couldn't resist the temptation to satisfy our hunger. Luckily, right across from Costco, we stumbled upon a Japanese food truck called the Kauai Sushi Station. This hidden gem boasted an impressive array of fresh sushi, prepared by the owner, who happened to be Japanese herself. The flavors were authentic and the sushi rolls were beautifully crafted, showcasing the owner's passion for the culinary arts. We indulged in a variety of sushi rolls, from classic favorites to unique creations, savoring each bite and appreciating the delightful fusion of flavors.

Accomodation: Kauai Inn, our chosen accommodation for this day, surpassed our expectations. Nestled in a picturesque setting, this charming hotel provided us with comfortable and well-appointed rooms. The friendly and attentive staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was memorable, offering valuable recommendations for local attractions and activities. The Kauai Inn also featured amenities such as a refreshing swimming pool, a cozy lounge area, and complimentary breakfast options, making it the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploration.
DAY 2:
Our second day in Kauai promised to be an exciting one as we set out to visit the breathtaking Wailuku Falls. But before embarking on our adventure, we knew it was essential to start the day with a satisfying breakfast. With the guidance of a friendly local and the help of rave reviews on Yelp, we discovered the hidden gem known as Noka Grill in the heart of Lihue. This local favorite had earned its reputation for serving up mouthwatering dishes that satisfied both traditional and adventurous palates. From hearty breakfast burritos to fluffy pancakes drizzled with local honey, Noka Grill delighted our taste buds and set the perfect tone for the day ahead.

As we soaked up the picturesque beauty of Wailuku Falls, we couldn't help but feel a sense of awe and wonder. The cascading water tumbling down the lush cliffs created an ethereal atmosphere, leaving us mesmerized by nature's grandeur. We spent hours exploring the surrounding trails, capturing photographs to preserve the memories of this awe-inspiring sight.
Later in the day, we bid farewell to our previous hotel and made our way to our new resort in Poipu, the enchanting Koloa Landing. Nestled amidst tropical gardens and overlooking the sparkling ocean, this luxurious retreat offered an idyllic setting for our family getaway. Upon arrival, we swiftly settled into our spacious and elegantly appointed room, eager to begin our relaxation and rejuvenation.
SECOND ACCOMODATION:
The highlight of our stay at Koloa Landing was undoubtedly the magnificent pool area. With multiple pools, waterfalls, and even a swim-up bar, it provided the perfect oasis for unwinding and spending quality time together as a family. We splashed and played in the refreshing waters, basking in the warm Kauai sun and savoring the joy of simple pleasures.
As the day unfolded, we indulged in poolside treats and refreshing tropical drinks, courtesy of the resort's attentive staff. The atmosphere was filled with laughter, as we created lasting memories and shared stories of our adventures in Kauai. The Koloa Landing resort truly exceeded our expectations, offering not only a luxurious and comfortable stay but also a haven of relaxation and togetherness.
With each passing moment, we couldn't help but feel grateful for the opportunity to experience the beauty of nature at Wailuku Falls and the blissful moments of family bonding at Koloa Landing. Our second day on the island had been nothing short of remarkable, leaving us eagerly anticipating the adventures that lay ahead in this
DAY 3:
On our third day on the island of Kauai, we embarked on a journey to explore the magnificent Waimea Canyon. Known as the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific," this natural wonder took our breath away with its vibrant hues of red, orange, and green. As we hiked along the various trails, we were treated to panoramic views that stretched for miles, showcasing the awe-inspiring beauty of the island. The sheer size and depth of the canyon left us in awe of nature's incredible power and artistry.
After immersing ourselves in the splendor of Waimea Canyon, we made our way to another popular attraction, the Spouting Horn. This natural blowhole entertained us with its impressive display of water shooting up through a small opening in the rocky coastline. The rhythmic hissing and roaring sounds, along with the occasional splash of seawater, created a captivating spectacle that showcased the island's raw beauty and power.
As the sun began to set, we found ourselves craving a delicious and comforting meal. Following a local recommendation, we decided to try something different and head to a ramen food truck - Naruto Noodles for dinner. The thought of slurping on a hot bowl of noodles sounded perfect after a day of adventuring. We arrived at the food truck, enticed by the aromas wafting through the air. The menu offered a variety of options, from traditional pork belly ramen to vegetarian alternatives, ensuring there was something for everyone. We eagerly placed our orders and patiently waited as the skilled chefs prepared our steaming bowls of ramen. The rich broth, tender noodles, and flavorful toppings made for a satisfying and memorable meal, leaving us feeling warm and content.
LAST DAY:
On our fourth and final day in Kauai, we reluctantly prepared to bid farewell to this island paradise. However, before our departure, we knew we had to make the most of our remaining time.
We started the day by indulging in one last relaxing soak in the pool at Koloa Landing. As we floated in the crystal-clear waters, we reflected on the incredible experiences we had during our stay. The refreshing pool provided the perfect setting to soak up the sun and savor the final moments of our vacation.
After our pool session, we decided to satisfy our sweet tooth by trying a local favorite – shave ice. We heard rave reviews about the shave ice stands scattered throughout the island, and we were excited to give it a try. We headed to a nearby stand and were greeted by a colorful display of flavors, ranging from traditional favorites like strawberry and pineapple to unique local flavors like lilikoi and coconut. We chose a variety of flavors and watched as the shaved ice was expertly layered in a cup. With each spoonful, we experienced a burst of fruity flavors and the refreshing sensation of finely shaved ice. It was the perfect treat to cool down on a warm Hawaiian day.
Before leaving Kauai, we made sure to visit the local market to pick up some Kona coffee beans. Kona coffee is renowned for its rich and smooth flavor, and we wanted to bring a taste of Hawaii back home with us. The market was bustling with activity, with vendors showcasing a variety of local produce, handmade crafts, and, of course, coffee beans. We carefully selected a bag of freshly roasted Kona coffee beans, knowing that every sip would transport us back to our time in paradise.
As we drove to the airport, we couldn't help but feel a mix of sadness and gratitude. Our time in Kauai had been filled with unforgettable experiences, breathtaking landscapes, and warm aloha spirit. We were leaving with hearts full of cherished memories and a deep appreciation for this beautiful island and its people.
As we boarded our flight, we took one last look at the stunning coastline and lush mountains, promising ourselves that we would return to this island paradise someday. With the taste of shave ice lingering on our tongues and the aroma of Kona coffee filling the air, we bid a fond farewell to Kauai, knowing that it had left an everlasting imprint on our souls.
