Experience the rich culture in Macau

Macau, a fusion of Chinese and Portuguese culture, is often referred to as the "Las Vegas of Asia" due to its massive casinos and dazzling entertainment strips. Situated along the southern coast of Hong Kong, it's just a quick 45-minute ferry ride from Central. Many tourists visiting Hong Kong can't resist the temptation of a day trip to this thrilling destination. And guess what? We decided to embark on this adventure with our little munchkin, all snugly wrapped up and ready for a walking tour

Our first international trip with our 6-month-old daughter was quite an adventure! Taking her on a walking tour while tending to all her needs was definitely a challenge. With her feeding schedule of every 3 hours and her body clock adjusting to the time difference from Hawaii, she mostly slept through the tour. But hey, we were determined to make the most of our trip!

From Central Hong Kong, we decided to embark on a day trip to Macau via the fast ferry. It only took us 45 minutes to reach our destination, with a quick 15-minute wait interval. We couldn't resist the allure of being posers and experiencing the "Las Vegas of Asia" firsthand - hence our decision to visit Macau!

Now, there are plenty of tour options available on platforms like Klook, offering all-day sightseeing tours in Macau. They even pick you up from your hotel and take you to the Hong Kong terminal for a jam-packed day of exploring. However, we decided to go for a more laid-back approach and have a DIY adventure. We didn't want to rush through the sights and wanted the freedom to explore at our own pace.

So, armed with our own itinerary and a sense of excitement, we set off to immerse ourselves in the vibrant culture and dazzling attractions that Macau had to offer. Stay tuned for the next chapter of our journey!

Once we landed in Macau, we discovered a little-known secret: there are free shuttles that can take you to various hotels. Talk about a hidden gem! It's like getting a free tour of the city right off the bat. Our first stop? The Venetian!

Stepping into The Venetian was like entering a whole new world. Even the restroom was extravagant and over-the-top opulent. As we strolled through the lobby, we couldn't help but feel a bit cheesy, surrounded by its grand vaulted ceiling and a massive centerpiece that left us in awe. To keep it short and sweet, we made our way to the lobby and concierge to drop off our luggage. Trust me, you don't want to drag your bags along the bustling streets of Macau or risk getting them towed. Remember to show some appreciation to the bellboys with a generous tip!

And so, our walking tour - or should I say struggle - began. One valuable lesson we learned along the way: always take advantage of the free buses wherever you go. They're a lifesaver when it comes to getting around the city hassle-free. So, remember to hop on those buses and enjoy the ride to your next destination

We embarked on a journey from The Venetian Macao all the way to the Parisian, another luxurious hotel that boasts a half-scale Eiffel Tower as one of its iconic landmarks. This is one of the things I adore about Macau - you can travel through Europe in just a few steps, going from an Italian impression to a French ambiance. It's like a European tour packed into one city!

During our exploration, we made sure to visit some highly recommended sites, including the enchanting Ruins of St. Paul's, the bustling Senado Square, the charming Taipa, the impressive Macau Tower, and, believe it or not, my husband even managed to squeeze in some gambling at The Venetian (casinos are scattered everywhere in Macau and are just as impressive as the ones in Las Vegas). All of this in just a few short hours that we had to spare. I truly wish we could have stayed longer to fully immerse ourselves in the wonders of Macau.

It was an incredible day-tripping experience with my loved ones - my ohana, my sisters, and my best friends. I can't wait for our next adventure together. Stay tuned, folks
